A boy with bright eyes – and a body that cannot yet do everything his mind already wants.
Hamza is a cheerful, lively boy – and yet he struggles daily with limitations that other children will never know. He suffers from spastic cerebral palsy, a condition that permanently tenses his muscles and severely limits his mobility.
In November 2025, Thomas and Hamza's family met the Toni Kroos Foundation for the first time, an organisation that supports exactly these kinds of children. There they learned about Dr. Igor Nazarov in Barcelona – one of the few surgeons worldwide who performs selective myofasciotomy: an operation that could change Hamza's life.
Hope is tangible. The costs for the operation and stay amount to €6,300 – a sum that is insurmountable for many families.

The method already helped greatly in the first procedure. Now the next treatment round follows.
Spasticity means: the muscles receive permanently too-strong signals from the brain. They are constantly tensed – even when Hamza wants to relax. This makes everyday movements like walking, standing up, or climbing stairs a real effort.
Shortened, tense muscles make normal walking considerably harder. Hamza has to exert effort for every step that other children don't even notice.
Without treatment, misalignments can worsen over time and become permanent.
Physiotherapy, aids, botox injections – Hamza knows all of these. These measures alleviate symptoms, but do not treat the cause.
The selective myofasciotomy goes deeper: it directly addresses the blockages at their source.
Dr. Nazarov's method has proven very effective in children with a similar diagnosis. In the first procedure, it already helped Hamza noticeably.
This second treatment is intended to consolidate and build on the progress.
After the operation, intensive physiotherapy follows using the Anat Baniel Method (ABM) – a neurological movement training that helps the brain learn new movement patterns.
Body and brain must learn together anew.
Every franc that Thomas runs for a kilometre brings Hamza one step closer to his operation.
